Louella Belle and DUET diabetes Team Up To Launch Evergreen Diabetic Foot Awareness Virtual Workshop

Following on from the success of the live course, Louella Belle and DUET diabetes are delighted to announce the launch of the Evergreen Diabetic Foot Awareness workshop, available to view virtually on www.louellabelle.academy in student's own time. This is certified after completing and passing the course and exam.

After the coronavirus pandemic, online learning has never been more important and pivotal in the learning and growth of beauty and wellness therapists. We want to be able to support our industry and customers and providing a course that allows students to train at their own convenience makes complete sense.

This Evergreen Diabetic Foot Awareness workshop is designed for beauty and wellness therapists to understand the diabetic foot and feel confident of when to treat and when to leave alone. Students will also learn what advice (within their scope of practice, and not of a clinical nature) to give as well as when to encourage clients to seek additional footcare (from a healthcare professional) if they spot signs of foot problems. You could be part of the solution to help reduce the 169 diabetes related amputations that take place in England each week**!

With the NHS spending more on diabetic footcare in England than the combined cost of breast, prostate and lung cancers; with over 90% of expenditure relating to ulceration* Having a foot ulcer can have a huge impact on someone's health and wellbeing.

This workshop covers:

  • What diabetes is and associated signs and symptoms
  • A brief overview of the short/long term effects (complications) of diabetes
  • What is a foot ulcer?
  • The observable risk factors leading to foot problems
  • Suitable and unsuitable footwear for people with diabetes
  • The causes of neuropathy and peripheral arterial disease (PAD)
  • The appropriate action to take and advice to give clients

The session is pre-recorded by an experienced Podiatrist from DUET diabetes.
