Treatwell salons to benefit from mental health training
Salon booking app Treatwell has partnered with Lions Barber Collective, the mental health charity that provides training for beauty and hair professionals across the UK and Ireland.
The partnership will offer Treatwell's salon partners access to mental health training over a three-month period. This will be aimed at helping salon owners, beauty therapists and stylists to recognise the symptoms and warning signs of mental ill health amongst clients and team members, and use the right conversations to signpost them to help. In addition, they will learn how to maintain their own mental wellbeing.
The training sessions, which will share the charity's ‘Recognise, Ask, Listen & Help' model, will be hosted by Lions Barber Collective founder Tom Chapman. Commenting on the partnership with Treatwell, Tom says:
"It's a pleasure to be working with Treatwell and being able to connect and reach all of their clients and in turn the clients in the chair. The importance of looking after our client's mental health is high as they confide in us whether we like it or not, but more importantly we as hair and beauty professionals need to be prepared to handle these situations with confidence and know how to keep ourselves safe and mentally fit."
Miranda Mathews, Managing Director at Treatwell for the UK and Ireland adds: “We're delighted to partner with Lions Barber Collective and offer mental health and suicide prevention training for our partners across the UK and Ireland. As a leader in the European beauty and wellness market, we see this as a responsibility, and an opportunity to make a real difference.”
