Tralee beauty brand gains sustainability certification

Beauty and wellness brand Seabody has become the first Irish brand to be awarded Butterfly Mark Certification.

Seabody, based in Tralee, Co. Kerry, supplies a range of skincare products and supplements formulated with algal phytonutrients from ocean plants gathered from the Irish Atlantic coastline. The company places transparency, integrity and impact at its core focussing on minimal impact on the environment. They source only sustainably cultivated and hand harvested seaweed, whilst products are certified vegan and cruelty-free.

Butterfly Mark Certification is awarded by the Positive Luxury Start-Up Accelerator Programme and acknowledges Seabody's measurable sustainability practices across its business operations.

Seabody is amongst good company, with brands including Dior Couture, Tom Ford Beauty and Anya Hindmarch having also received the Butterfly Mark.

Commenting on their achievement in gaining Butterfly Mark Certification, Dr Helena McMahon, co-founder of Seabody, says:

“As one of the first brands to be accepted into the inaugural Positive Luxury Accelerator program, we're thrilled to be one of the first to complete it and the only Irish brand to now hold this certification. Our commitment to measurable environmental, social, and governance practices sets us apart, and we're proud to have a positive impact on nature and society as we grow and innovate in the luxury industry. At Seabody, we're dedicated to making a difference, and the Butterfly Mark is proof that our efforts are making an impact.”
