Ishga reviews eco-friendly skincare packaging
Organic seaweed skincare brand, Ishga, is repackaging its retail range with more recyclable glass and aluminum, plus reducing plastic used for its professional lines and in-house production processes, to help reduce the amount of plastic that enters the oceans.
In line with the brand's commitment to sustainability and environmentally friendly credentials, in 2018 Ishga carried out a comprehensive review of its products, packaging and manufacturing processes. The company are now implementing the findings of the review by phasing out plastic packaging and replacing it with containers made from eco-friendly material, such as frosted glass, which can be recycled.
Plus, laminated product boxes and in-production latex gloves, wet wipes and bubble wrap have been replaced with biodegradable gloves, biodegradable wet wipes and shredded paper, whilst professional products such as bath salts and seaweed powder, are now packaged in biodegradable paper bags rather than plastic buckets.
The first product launched in new packaging is the brand's Uplifting Body Spray which comes in a frosted glass bottle and aluminium atomiser spray and over cap, both of which are 100% recyclable. In addition, Ishga's Hydrating Hand Cream comes in a frosted glass bottle with aluminium dispenser.
The brand has now replaced the plastic jars used for packaging its Hebridean Sea Salt Scrub, Anti-oxidant Marine Cream, Exfoliating Face Mask and Men's Marine Cream with 100% recyclable frosted glass jars with aluminium lids.
