Dublin salon owner supports city's vulnerable women
Lash and Brow studio, Alchemy Lab, has joined forces with Dress for Success Dublin to support vulnerable women in the city.
With the aim of helping women build their confidence and achieve independence, and to ultimately secure employment and progress to the next phase of their lives, Alchemy Lab are providing beauty therapy to women from all backgrounds on a voluntary basis. Alchemy Lab has already provided treatments to 30 women as part of the Dress for Success project.
Brow technician Maura Healy opened Alchemy Lab in July in Dublin's Wicklow Street, and devised the idea for her business in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic and nationwide lockdown. In line with Maura's eco-friendly and vegan principles, the salon offers lash and brow treatments including microblading, brow lift (lamination), threading, bespoke tinting, Yumi lash perm and lash extensions.
Commenting on
Alchemy Lab's partnership with Dress for Success, Maura Healy, says:
"While we were developing the lab and building the business, a lot of principles were swirling in my mind about what I wanted to create within my dream. Overall, we aim to support people and build confidence through what we do.
"I reached out to
Dress for Success before we had even opened our doors, because the charity hit all the same notes for me. I am now honoured to call myself a volunteer with Dress for Success Dublin, as their beauty consultant, alongside the wonderfully talented Judy Wong."
Since 2011, Dress for Success Dublin has supported over 2,000 women, and is a division of the worldwide Dress for Success project, founded in New York in 1996.
