Cloud Nine commits to removing ocean plastic
Hair tool brand Cloud Nine has partnered with CleanHub to protect oceans from plastic waste whilst providing much needed employment for vulnerable women.
The partnership sees Cloud Nine commit to collecting 1,000kg of plastic per year, which is more than what is emitted across all wetline sales. The company will do this by working with waste specialist Green Worms, who employ women from under privileged backgrounds in southern India. With the help of women's' self-help groups, the door-to-door waste collection services offers women who have been subject to abuse the opportunity to build their own independence as well as enabling them to come together and act on issues related to health, nutrition, empowerment and social and gender justice.
Cloud Nine's latest sustainability initiative will see the company donate to CleanHub whenever a purchase of the brand's Magical Quick Dry Potion or Amplify Spray. In addition, for every Cloud Nine Eco-Friendly Water Bottle purchased, the company will also remove the equivalent weight of one plastic bottle from ocean-going waste.
Cloud Nine also support Ecologi, committing to plant nine trees for every purchase of their limited-edition Evergreen Collection.
