Candela acquires aesthetic brand Ellipse


Global aesthetic device company, Candela Corporation, has acquired Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and laser-based manufacturer, Ellipse.

Based in Denmark but available in the UK for several years, Ellipse's key products include multi-application, multi-technology IPL system, Nordlys, along with an Nd:YAG laser platform for hair removal and treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions. In addition, Ellipse produce an IPL-only system used for skin rejuvenation, facial veins and hair removal, as well as a fractional non-ablative laser system used for skin resurfacing. Unique to Ellipse is their Selective Waveband Technology (SWT®) which utilises dual filtering on all IPL handpieces to focus on effective wavelengths and, using sub-millisecond pulses, selectively delivers precise energy to the targeted area.

Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
