L’Oréal end use of animal hair in brushes
L'Oréal Group is to ban the use of all animal hair, including from badgers and goats, in its brush products.
The decision follows petitioning from animal rights group, PETA US, and nearly 80,000 members of the public who urged the L'Oréal-owned men's grooming brand, Baxter of California, to stop the sale of badger-hair brushes.
In recognition of L'Oréal Group's decision, PETA US sent the French company a box of vegan chocolates.
Commenting on L'Oréal Group's decision to stop the use of animal hair in its brushes, Yvonne Taylor, PETA's Director of Corporate Projects, says:
“Every badger- or goat-hair brush represents a sensitive animal who endured a violent death. PETA is calling on retailers everywhere to follow L'Oréal Group's compassionate example and embrace animal-free brushes that no one had to suffer and die for.”
L'Oréal Group is just one of nearly 100 brands including Procter & Gamble, Morphe, Cult Beauty, and NARS that banned badger-hair brushes after talks with PETA and its international affiliates.
