Gen-A warned of importance of sunscreen

Sensitive skin experts Elave Skincare have launched a new sunscreen campaign to raise awareness of the importance of protecting Ireland's Alpha Generation from UV skin damage.

Explaining the risks of sun damage for Gen-A children (those born between 2010 and 2025), Joanna Gardiner of Elave Skincare, says:

“We can't just ignore the fact that melanoma is the most common type of cancer in the 15-44 age group. Experts confirm that just one blistering sunburn during childhood or adolescence nearly doubles the chance of developing skin cancer in later life.

“Sadly, the upward trend of cases is likely to continue unless we teach our children healthy sun care habits from an early age. That means making putting on sunscreen as much a part of their daily routine as brushing their teeth or combing their hair.”

Elave Skincare offer the Elave Sun range of SPF products including Elave Paediatric 50+ which blocks out 98% of harmful UVA, UVB and infrared rays, whilst Elave Sun SPF30 and SPF 50+ is specially formulated for dry, sensitive and eczema-prone skin.
